Business Development Manager

Company: IONETIC

Location: Brackley, Northamptonshire, UK

Employment type: Full-time

IONETIC is a software-accelerated, end-to-end battery pack design and manufacturing company, building packs for automotive, bus, marine and off-highway customers through its Arc platform. This Staff-equivalent commercial hire sits directly alongside the CEO, owning the front end of IONETIC’s commercial effort — pipeline creation, qualification and deal closure — across business development, commercial operations, marketing and strategic projects. IONETIC is hiring one person to do this, not a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create pipeline from a standing start: target list, outreach, first conversation, qualification
  • Drive opportunities to close alongside the CEO and engineering leads, including proposals, quotations and commercial terms
  • Represent IONETIC at customer sites and industry events, converting activity into tracked pipeline
  • Own the CRM, the forecast and the commercial reporting the leadership team and board rely on
  • Sharpen qualification criteria, proposal templates, pricing inputs and follow-up discipline
  • Shape how Arc is positioned to each market and produce the material that carries the argument
  • Run demand generation campaigns and measure what they return
  • Take on strategic projects with the CEO, including partnerships, new market entry and investor-facing commercial work

Requirements

Commercially credible self-starter with a track record of personally sourcing and closing opportunities in a technical, engineering or manufacturing environment; technically fluent enough to hold their own with engineers on the customer side and translate requirements back to IONETIC’s team; comfortable with pace, ambiguity and weekly-shifting priorities while working directly with a founder; clean pipeline management and honest forecasting, since this material goes to customers, the board and investors. Advantageous: experience selling into automotive, bus, marine, off-highway or defence OEMs and Tier 1s; exposure to electrification, battery or high-voltage products; time in an early-stage company where the commercial function was built rather than inherited.
