AISIN will put its eAxle and e-Motor on the same stand as front and rear-wheel-drive hybrid transmissions at The Battery Show North America in Detroit next week. Booth 1201 marks the Tier One supplier’s second consecutive year at the event, and the display runs from propulsion through battery structure to aerodynamics and energy recovery. Hybrids share the floor space with the electric hardware, in line with Shin Sasaki’s pitch that AISIN will support whatever the market needs.
Propulsion, pack structure and energy recovery on one stand
The expo floor at Huntington Place runs from October 13 to 15, alongside the Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo. AISIN says the display is built around power management, energy efficiency and aerodynamics, with hardware engineered to improve fuel efficiency, reduce weight, minimise air resistance and optimise energy consumption in electric and hybrid vehicles.
Around the eAxle and e-Motor, visitors will find battery structural components, an active grill shutter and ADVICS regenerative brake systems. A location-based services platform completes the product list. There is also the mini Demo Car, a 3.5-foot scaled-down model that carries many of the company’s EV-related innovations.
Ten hybrid production sites across the US and Asia
The hybrid transmissions have some history behind them. AISIN cites more than 20 years of hybrid electric vehicle development and 10 HEV production facilities, in North Carolina and Texas as well as Japan, China and Thailand. Sasaki described the North American production and supply network as being on the front line of an industry facing shifting market demands.
Flexible supply, and “Ready when you are”
Sasaki, who is executive vice president of AISIN World Corp. of America’s Product Development Center, framed the company’s approach as flexible. It runs from supplying traditional components, through meeting growing customer demand for hybrids, to intelligence products and fully electric systems. He pointed to the group’s scale, with more than 190 consolidated companies and over 110,000 employees, as what lets AISIN respond with agility.
His message for customers at the show is short. AISIN, he said, is “Ready when you are.”
