The new Hoenle UV-curable gasket, Vitralit CIPG 60200, is specifically engineered for high-performance automotive and e-mobility electronics housings, including on-board chargers and battery disconnect units. Technicians can reopen a housing and reseal it without replacing the gasket, which Hoenle says reduces service cost and waste, while rapid curing under UV or LED light supports short cycle times in series production.

How is the Hoenle UV-curable gasket applied and cured?

A cured-in-place gasket (CIPG) goes onto the housing as a liquid bead, cures under light, and only then meets the mating cover. Surface pressure on the cured bead then creates the seal, usually reinforced by an additional force or form fit. Hoenle says liquid gaskets can seal complex three-dimensional geometries that solid or stamped gaskets cannot reliably protect, and that adhesive-based liquid seals cure much faster than silicone sealants. It positions the new material as an alternative to solid gaskets and FIPG (RTV silicone) systems.

Vitralit CIPG 60200 is a CMR-free polyacrylate that dispenses through adhesive valves and programmable robots, which gives accurate bead geometry and dimensional stability before cure. Curing runs under LED light at 365 nm or 405 nm, or under gas discharge lamps, and the bead reaches immediate handling strength. Hoenle’s best curing results came with its UVAPRINT 100 – 200 HPV curing system, which enables fast, tack-free curing.

How does Vitralit CIPG 60200 perform in EV electronics housings?

The cured Hoenle UV-curable gasket shows a compression set of 15% after 24 hours at 150°C under ASTM D395 Method B, the constant-deflection in air method. Hoenle presents that figure as evidence of strong repulsive force and long-term sealing capability, and the material holds high elastic recovery across an operating range from -40°C to above 150°C.

Chemical resistance covers engine oil, automatic transmission fluid and a 50:50 water and glycol mixture, while low outgassing makes the material suitable for sensitive electronic components. It is UL 94 HB compatible, and it holds up under both static and dynamic mechanical loads.

Target housings include electronic control units, battery disconnect units, on-board chargers and cell module controllers, where the cured bead protects against dust, moisture and harsh chemicals immediately after UV curing.

What does the Hoenle UV-curable gasket change for maintenance and repair?

Hoenle designed Vitralit CIPG 60200 for maintenance, repair and overhaul as well as series production. Unlike conventional single-use gaskets, the cured Hoenle UV-curable gasket allows reuse after disassembly, so housings open and reseal without gasket replacement. Hoenle links this to lower service costs and less waste.
