Electropolishing, Passivation, and Precision Cleaning for EV Battery, Powertrain, and Charging Components
EV components have to carry high current, stay clean inside sealed battery packs, and resist corrosion for the life of the vehicle. Surface condition affects all three. Able Electropolishing has specialized in metal surface finishing for more than 70 years, and we bring that experience to battery, powertrain, and charging system parts.
We offer three processes. Electropolishing, passivation (nitric and citric), and vacuum vapor degreasing. Common EV parts we process include busbars, battery connectors and terminals, cooling plates, stator and rotor components, charging contacts, springs, and fasteners.
Electropolishing removes a controlled, uniform layer of surface metal. Typical removal is .0005″–.001″ on standard alloys and .001″–.0015″ on aluminum and copper. In a single step, the process removes burrs left by stamping and machining, takes out embedded contaminants, and improves Ra finish by up to 50%. For battery assemblies, removing burrs and loose particulate lowers the risk of shorts and contamination. On stainless steel, electropolishing also produces a passive, corrosion-resistant surface.
One supplier can cover a mixed EV bill of materials. We finish copper, aluminum, titanium, nickel alloys, and all stainless grades. Our quality systems are registered to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485:2016, and AS9100:2016, so every lot runs under documented, repeatable process control. We are also ITAR registered.
We run 22 production lines across 3 shifts, staffed by more than 150 specialists. That capacity supports both prototype quantities and production volumes. Standard lead time is 5 business days, and two-day and next-day service are available.
